The Miami Dolphins strive for trade options for all-pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, general manager Chris Grier confirmed on Tuesday.
Ramsey did not ask for an exchange, and he did not ask for more money, clarified Grier, but after weeks of discussions with the representation of Ramsey, both parties, it would be best to possibly continue.
“Bese Decions are done quickly,” said Grier on his pre-NFL Draft News Conference. “And they were not taken lightly because we spent a lot of time outside season this season, by talking things.”
Miami has been talking to a few teams about a potential trade. Grier refused to elaborate on the content of those discussions and gave no clear reason to possibly separate with Ramsey, which was taken over from the Los Angeles Rams in 2023 and was given to three -year contract extension of $ 72.3 million prior to the 2024 season; $ 24.2 million in Ramsey’s salary is guaranteed this season.
“We feel good about where it is. It is never easy to replace players like Jalen,” said Grier. “He was a good player for us.
There is a chance that Ramsey will not be traded. Grier said that if that happens, “we will deal with it.”
Ramsey was traded out of the rams in March 2023, but a knee injury early in his first dolphin training camp brought him offside the first half of the season. I have returned to have three interceptions, five pass -Break -Ups and 22 tackles in 10 games.
He played all 17 games in 2024 and ended with 60 tackles, two interceptions, 11 bent passages and a bag.
Dolphin’s defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver described Ramsey as the “ultimate chess piece” during the season that the team can increase the field to maximize its impact, which felt since I submitted the NFL as the fifth general picksonville jaguars picks in 2016.
Grier did not say whether the sevenfold Pro Bowler was unhappy with his role.
