F1 Miami Grand Prix: Fernando Alonso talks Aston Martin’s present, and future, Thursday in Miami

Miami, Florida – The Formula 1 season 2023 started with a surprise team that fought at the front of the grid.

Aston Martin.

With veteran driver Fernando Alonso who joins the team to drive past Lance Stroll, the team roared its gates. Both drivers ended up in points in the seasonal Bahrain Grand Prix-Stroll and did this as he recovered from a painful wrist injury and with Alonso a podistic finish in six of the first eight Raes, it seemed that Aston Martin could be able to do

However, the team faded the play and settled for fifth place in the Builders’ Championship.

A fifth place this year sems well off in the distance.

The team in Miami with ten points in seventh place in the rankings and placed ten points behind the sixth place Haas. Although there is hope for the future, it is present for rather difficult challenge.

“Yes, I mean, we are not as competitive as we want to be,” Fernando Alonso told the media, proceeds. SB NationThursday in Miami. “There are a few factors that have made the car a bit difficult at the moment in Tempo Therms, and maybe not as fast as sum of

Midfield. They increased the level and they are closer to the top four, and we have not taken that step.

“So yes, still a long championship, so we have to respond.”

As a remark, there are hope on the horizon, with the arrival of the legendary designer Adrian Newy who came to the team in March. Alonso recently spent time with Newey in the brand new facility of the team in Silverstone, but possible solutions may be eliminated in the future.

“I think this year is normal:” I was in the factory and lunch with Adrian, a few conversations, but you know that this year nothing is really too much.

“It was more a general conversation about the team in general and how he felt in the first link of weeks at Aston and the subject of the changes that the team have for a better future future under his guidance and his experience.

“Yes, it is always rushing, you know, to talk to him and finally work with him.”

Still, with Newy who connects this season and new regulations will come into effect next year, Alonso believes that the focus of the legendary engineer will have to be on the next generation of cars.

“Designing cars as he has, you know, how much need and how much [the 2026 car]”Alonso continued.” So even for [the] ’26 Project I am sure he thinks it is late, so I am not at all set that he only has to concentrate on next year’s car.

“And this year he didn’t touch the car.

As for whether Aston Martin could steal sub -points this weekend, where the Miami Grand Prix Factoring could be given as one of the F1 Sprint Race weekends that could create more opportunities for the team, Alonso did its best to temper expectations.

“The nearest example is China, where we qualified a bit bitter than expected on Friday, and we went back to our normal position on Saturday. Even more difficult,” Alonso started. “So it can happen, but I think Miami didn’t really have been good for us.

“Even in 2023 with a stage here [Alonso finished third in Miami that season during the team’s tremendous start] We only came to life in Quali. All free practices that we were a bit non -competitive for our standards in 2023 at the start of the year and also last year. Even if we started the season strong, Miami was difficult.

“So yes, let’s see if we are changing things this year, but it’s certainly a tough weekend.”

Even with those tempered expectations, Alonso seemed hopeful for what is around the corner.

‘We are [headed] In the right direction, but as usual in Formula 1, nothing changes from one to the next day.

“Everything needs time.”
