George Russell feeling ‘no stress’ about his contract status with Mercedes F1

George Russell came in a fascinating position in the Formula 1 season 2025. With the move from Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari, Russell had inherited the veteran role at Mercedes, with the young phenomenon Kimi Antonelli securing the second chair with the silver arrows.

Just like Antonelli, however, Russell also called in the year on an exiving contract.

Thanks to a huge start to the 2025 season – Russell has three stage finishes over four racing weekends to enter this week’s Saudi Grand Prix in the Mercedes drivers.

Speaking with the average in Jeddah, Russell emphasized that he was not … Stressed about his contract status with the team.

“From my side there is literally no stress, no worries,” Russell started when he spoke Sky Sports F1. “When it comes to contracts, Evyone becomes so enthusiastic about it, and the fact is that drivers have had contracts, and if they are not tuned, they will be started.

“For drivers, performance is our currency. That’s what we have. And if you perform, everything is fine. So I am just enthusiastic to race this weekend, focus on performance and the future sorts itself.”

Russell was also asked about a report from Motorsport That he was dressing a new deal with the team, that Wold saw him sign two more seasons with an option for a third party, as well as rumors about Mercedes that was deleted when securing Max Verstappen’s services if possible.

“Rumors are never so truthful that they are,” Russell replied.

“When you said rumors, I didn’t do that much. A few of them are reassured from close by, but at the end of the day we discussed snow a contract before May or June in a season.”

Russell then described the “ruthless” nature of Formula 1, where “Drive to Survive” is more than just the name of a documentary series, but a way of life.

“I would say that the more abnormal point is how many divers have, kind of long -term deals.

“But everyone has exit clauses, they all have performance blues. A driver who has a three-year contract, it doesn’t really mean something if they have an exit clause, or the team that you mean to dote.

“If you have a contract with a team, but the team wants you to be gone, the team finds a way to get you away.

“That is how this sport works, and that’s how it should work bea we are 20 of the best in the world and it is relentless. There is no time to mess. The only thing you can do is focus on driving fast.”

Russell will focus his attention on fast driving on Friday, in the first of three practice sessions on the difficult Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
