The second round of the 89th Masters tournament was a thriller and full of must-see moments.

Justin Rose stays in the lead and shoots 1 -under 71 on Friday. LIV golfers Bryson Dechambeau and Tyrrell Hatton are firmly in the mix, locked up in second and in fifth place, respectively, on the way to the third round on Saturday.

Here are the highlights of round 2 at Augusta National:

T2. Rory Mcilroy (-6)

T5. Tyrrell Hatton (-5)

Justin Rose Remains in the lead with Sum All-Star Company

Rose kept his name on top of the leaderboard on Friday, and he did not want to look at an all-star collection of contenders that stand behind him.

Bryson Dechambeau is at his best start in the Masters. Rory Mcilroy might make his biggest recovery at Augusta National. Still lurking on the track was defending champion Scottie Scheffler.

Rose, which took a three -round lead in the second round, made short Birdie putts at Bo Pair 3s on the rear nine with which he could pay a few mistakes on his way to a 1 -below 71. He was a shot for the (66).

“That is the company that I expect to keep, and that is where I tried to be my entire career,” said Rose, what lonely major the US Open 2013 was at Merion. “I have been a top 10 player in the world for ten years or more. So yes, this is nice to be back in that mix.”

I set the target at 8-end 136 for Schefler and the rest of the players in the afternoon, while the wind began to break flags and my period, to cause a very indisputable feeling in Augusta. This was the fifth time that Rose had at least part of the 18-hole lead with the Masters, and he denied that he was done better than 71 in trying to follow that up.

McIlroy had two double bogeys in his last four holes that ruined an Ohherwise good start on Thursday, making it closer to the cut than the lead.

He played the front nine with one bird and eight pars on Friday, but quickly came to life, filled a three-quarter 8-ion to a foot at no. 10 and a similar game with 9-rice to about 4 feet at no. 11. The PAR-5 13th who sets the Rae’s Creek and set up on 10-foot Adelaar.

“I had to remind myself that I played well,” said McIlroy. “I couldn’t let two bad holes dictate the story of the 16 good.

That was a mistake he made in 2023, the year I was dealing with a 10-shot shortage when he started his second round, he tried to catch up as quickly as he could and miss the cut. This time I had a steady start and “clicking things a bit in gear on the rear nine.”

DCCHAMBEAU is introduced the weekend in the hunt for his Grass Masters title on 7-end 137 after 36 Hols. The 31-Yare-old double US Open winner remalde calmly through the first two rounds. After his tee shot landed on the fourth hole of the par-3 in the bunker on the left side of Green, he displayed himself and held a difficult chip of the sand.

That bird led to another on the difficult fifth hole, where he broke his ride 369 meters in the middle of the Fairway. He added another bird to the eighth and made the bend at 4-our 32. His only bogey came on the par-3 16th hole, but he bounced back with a Birdie on 17 and ended with back-te-back rounds in the 60s (69-68) at the Masters for the Masters.

Matt McCarty’s Eight Birdies in 12-hole span leaves Let Masters Rookie in the mix

The PGA Tour-Rookie hit its Tee-shot on the 180-Yard, par-3 sixth hole at the Masters within 8 feet to set up his first birdie and the sank a blessing of 28 feet put for another on a par-4. Five holes in the second round on Friday, the 27-year-old McCarty thought that his first Masters-appear would be a short-led.

He was 3-over the day and 2-over before the tournament with the cut line. Subsequently, the left -handed person from Scottsdale, Arizona settled and stretched eight Birdies together in the next 12 holes. It not only assured him that he would play during the weekend, but also spoke to him at the top of the Leaderboard at 5 -under 139.

McCarty spent three seasons on the Korn Ferry Tour at a lower level, where he won player of the year in 2024 and earned his tour card after three wins. I secured the place in the Masters when he won the Black Desert Championship shot 23-under 261-in-just his third career event on tour.

Age is just a number

More than 30 years ago, Fred Paren Bernhard helped for longer in the green jacket at the Masters.

On Friday they both almost made the cut.

Longer, who played in his 41st and final masters, made a few Birdies on the second nine with Augusta National to even come before the tournament. But a shot in the water on the 15th led to a double bogey and, which was needed at the last to make the cut on the number, the 67-Yare-Oord longer saw its 10-footer slide past the edge of the hole for a bogey.

The customers who surrounded the gap nevertheless gave the 1985 and 1993 champion a standing ovation when he ended, his wife’s hand in hand to the clubhouse to sign his score card one last time.

“It was a different special last two days for me,” said longer. “Even starting to walk to the first tee yesterday, I let a standing ovation fall and the people really, you know, applauded. I almost tore up and almost started crying there, and I said:” Come on, understand it

A few minutes after it was ready, the 65-year-old couple came to the 18th with the cut in mind. I am open with 71, making him the second oldest player behind Tom Watson to shoot an insufficient round on the Masters. But back-to-back bogeys on Friday left the 1992 champion that last needed a Birdie. He had bogey deployed and missed the cut by two.
