Masters 2025: Rory McIlroy’s patience pays off in big way

Augusta, g. – The world saw Rory McCilroy Chip on Thursday afternoon his third shot in the water in the water. They later saw him make a few unchanged error errors holes, so that they turn into a disappointing round in a disappointing round. Som thought that he threw the tournament away, which completely eliminated his chance of completing the Grand Slam … again.

He was understood, frustrated, decided not to speck the average and immediately went home to see his Daoughter Poppy before she went to bed. That helped him take golf for a while, while he touched peace for the evening and the hay with a clear head.

On Friday morning, well before his Tee -time of 9:58 am, McIlroy talked to his old coach Bob Rotella. Their discuse came on an important feature, in which he was submitted that McIlroy would trust all day on Friday:

Patience.

“[We talked about] Don’t push too hard and try to get those shots back immediately, “said McIlroy.

“And you can see that today I started with eight pars and a birdie at the front nine.

After Sumhow made a birdie on the par -5 2nd from next to a tree, McIlroy left in a 1 -below 35 when he made it.

Then fireworks went off.

I bleached towering signs on the 10th Fairway, the same gap that cost him a chance at his first major championship in 2011. McIlroy put a wedge in one foot and tapped for his second Birdie of the day. Almost the same happened on the 11th, where McIlroy hit a towering tee of 359 meters in the middle of the fairway.

But the moment of the round came on the par-5 13th.

McIlroy was 3 -below for the championship and got a good score. And yet his Tee -shot settled in the Pinestraw of the Fairway, leaving it in a precarious position. However, he only had 189 meters at the front of the green, so McIlroy had no choice but to go for it.

“I was between 4 and 5-rron. And usually the ball comes from the spinnier from the pine stro. So I got a 4-rron, and the next one, I certainly made it, and I was happy that I hit.

‘When the ball was in the air, I thought:’ You idiot, what did you do? ‘It is also one of those uones, it is a pin that even if you get it in danger, it is a pretty not a routine and down, but it is a bit easier than, for example, where the pin was yesterday in that front part.

McIlroy hit it to nine feet and left the putt for eagle, making them roar that was as far away as Hilton Head, where the PGA Tour goes next week for the RBC heritage heritage.

In the next hole, the 14th, I hit another great shot from the Pinetraw, hit the tree and made par Ken a bogey or worse.

He then added another bird to the 15th, the hole that completely unraveled it the day before.

“It was nice to make a 4 o’clock there,” said McIlroy.

“I think the momentum just stays that I had built up through the previous holes, 10, 11, 13.”

I signed for 6 -under 66, his best round at Augusta National since photographing at the age of 64 on Sunday in 2022. Since that magical final round, including him from the Greenside bunker on the 18th hole, McCilroy had no round in the 60s with the Masters.

See you Friday.

“Golf tournaments are so long, and you’re a lot

“My way of thinking was:” I even shot in the same yesterday. I have to get ProbaLay somewhere between 12 and 15 -undse to win this tournament. ” You know, there was enough time to do that.

Now McIlroy has to borrow from the Grote Axel Rose, who wrote Guns N “Roses” Patience “in 1988, the same year to colleague European, Sandy Lyle, won his first masters:

‘I need what is to make it

“We won’t falsify it,

‘I’ll never break it

“Because I can’t take it,” the number goes.

“Need a little patience,

“Just a little patience, yes.”

Patience has so far paid off for McIlroy. But now needs more of it at the weekend. Time will learn, but to win the green jacket and to become the sixth player of all time who wins the career Grand Slam, McIlroy will need a little more patience.
