New head coach Ben Johnson took over the Chicago Bears with a clear plan in mind. He was the protection for Quarterback Caleb Williams to get bigger, stronger and generally better to protect the former number 1 general choice.
Last month, when the free desk began, Johnson added three new interior offensive lineman in Jonah Jackson, Drew Dalman and Joe Thuney. That is a great upgrade to deal with promising young right Tackle Darnell Wright.
With the 20th pick, the bear cold goes in a number of directions. Nothing screams “terribly” after their free agent distance, which means that they will be feasible with the best player available.
But if you are Windy Cityon’s Lester Wiltfong, you think the Beren Coul will continue even with their attacking line overlooking.
Without further delay, with the 20th choice in the SB Nation Community Mock Draft, Wiltfong selects the offensive Tackle Josh Simmons from Ohio.
20.) Chicago Bears: Josh Simmons, Ot, Ohio State
Wiltfong: In this class, Simmons would have insisted on OT1 as it was for the knee injury. According to various reports, he is ahead of schedule and can be ready by training camp. Even if he doesn’t win a runway like Rookie, Ben Johnson will find a way to get him on the field.
Analysis: Even after the Bears Three New Offensive Linean have added this year during the Free Agency Pournal, they continue to rebuild the attacking line for Caleb Williams by taking Simmons, which only fell so far because of an impressive that cost the majority of his season 2024. Otherwise we might talk about him as the best tackle in this concept class.
Simmons made the switch from San Diego State to the state of Ohio and hit the ground. It is to a very athletic, easily moving block with fluent footwork for Miror Rushers and goes to his orientation points. In the Run game I have a strong doll on double team blocks that help defend defenders before sliding to the second level and develops another defender. I am a nice watch on film because it is so clear how good he is and will probably be at the next level.
I love this choice for the bears that go all the way in Caleb Williams in year 2.
Top five remaining players:
- Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
- James Pearce Jr., Edge, Tennessee
- Luther Burden, WR, Missouri
- Donovan Ezeiruaku, Edge, Boston College
- EMEKA EGBUKA, WR, OHIO State
Still sub -excellent defenders on the board, including our second Rran Cornerback in Barron. If a team needs an Edge Rusher, they cannot go wrong with Eithher Pearce or Ezeiruaku. The Steelers are the following and we know how much that franchise appreciates good defense. It would not surprise me in the light to see one of these guys I just mentioned with the next pick!
