The Jeddah Corniche Circuit is one of the fastest street circuit in the world. The combination of high speeds, 27 corners and the always little walls push drivers to the extreme and punishes the smallest mistakes.
That was the fate of Land Norris during the qualification for Formula 1 Saudi Arabic Grand Prix.
During another week in which Norris qualification came in as a favorite, the McLaren driver arrived at the wrong end of the procedures. Last week it was Grand Prix in the Bahrain, where Norris could only qualify sixth after being strongly run over three practice sessions. On Saturday past the Red Seorris, qualifying again as a favorite, but a Wiebel during his first run in Q3 saw him hit the wall at the exit of Turn 5, who ended his dreams of polar position:
Although the most important thing is that Norris was good after the impact, the small mistake opened the door for Max Verstappen to take pale position and raise more questions about the fight for the driver’s championship.
“I’m just disappointed about today,” Norris started when he spoke Sky Sports F1 After his abrupt exit of qualification.
“I know and have to look forward to Tomrorow and I am going to go and see my enginers and we will look ahead to what we can do Tomrorow. We know that the car is good, we know that the car is fast,” continue with the McLaren driver. “I’m going to visit my engineers and apologize and see what we can do tomorrow, try to set a good plan. But tomorrow we need a little luck.”
Norris tried his chances for an indictment for the front and noted that catching up is often difficult on the punishing Jeddah Corniche circuit.
“It’s so difficult, it’s almost impossible to catch up here, so I don’t expect anything magical,” Norris added. “But we have a good car. If we can make our way to the top five or six, I would be happy.
“Oscar was not on pole, our pace was clearly not that much better than Max. Even George [Russell] Is not that far away, so I think I get close to them, is not realistic, but to try to try the top is probably our goal. “
Norris Enviry The weekend with Jus a scarce three -point lead on Piastri in the driver’s championship, with vesting fees only eight points from his pace. But given where the drivers stand in line to start Saudi Arabian Grand Prix of Sunday, there is a different chance that Norris will look at one – or more – drivers in the rankings on Monday morning.
Yet the team around him promised to pick up for the race.
‘Just focus on the race. It will probably be a one-stop race, but the high like Sky Sports F1 When asked how the team prepares him for Sunday.
“So just concentrate on the race, do the best we can and see if we can get it on the schedule.
“He will certainly be faster than he has qualified.”
Will that reverse to keep his lead in the driver’s championship?
