Tyron Smith, cornerstone of dominant Dallas OL, officially retires with Cowboys

Tyron Smith signed the ceremonial contract so that the striking tackle with the Dallas Cowboys could retire on Wednesday and encouraged to explain radiant owner Jerry Jones: “Officially to Cowboy.”

Jones did not smile a year ago, the cowboys took the business decision to deal with the old anchor of their offensive line of injuries, which led to Smith signing with the New York Jets.

“It was just like the family member when he wasn’t against the Jet,” said Jones. “And I couldn’t talk to him, I couldn’t chat. NFL.”

Those 13 seasons with the cowboys won easily, especially since it has been less than two months ago since the six times all-pro Right Zack Martin, Smith’s teammate for 10 years, withdrawing after having spent all 11 of his seasons in Dallas.

“The moment I entered Dallas,” said Smith at a pension ceremony attended by the 34-Yare-old family and many former teammates and coaches, “I knew this was at home.”

Smith made eight Pro Bowls in a wingspan of nine seasons, including B of his all-pro nodding. But the insults accumulated and he did not play a complete season during his last nine years after he had only missed one game due to his first five seasons.

“After the past year and through the years of nonsense and things like that, it just felt like it was the right time to hang it,” said Smith. “I don’t want to be that guy along the line where I am stugly, and I want to be healthy for my children.”

At his best, Smith was perhaps the most dominant lineman in the history of the story franchise-a huge, 6-foot-5, 320 pound frame that seemed to come from a cartoon book. He wore knee brackets on his elbows and still had the athletic ability to keep almost every pass rusher from the blind side of Quarterbacks Tony Romo and Dak Prescott.

Smith was the first of three attacking rulers prepared in the first round by Dallas in a period of four years as the number 9 general choice in 2011. Center Travis Frederick was a newest first rounder in 2013, a year later fell by Martin. Frederick went back after the 2019 season.

Smith played the right tackle when I debuted as a 20-year-old Rookie from southern California, making the switch to the higher profit left to year later.

The selection of Smith led to the rebuilding of the Dallas attack line, which was among the best in the NFL within a few years.

“You can’t beat the group we had,” said Smith, who started 161 with the cowboys before they made 10 with the jets. “We felt like we were at the top of the world and ustoppable, and it’s no better feeling than that.”

Dallas had seven winning seasons and six Play -Ooff -APPAARITIES during Smith’s term of office, but Coudn passes the division round. The cowboys went 29 seasons without reaching an NFC championship game since winning the fifth Super Bowl title of the franchise.

“It is a tragedy that we didn’t get a super bowl that you sat there with that left tackle,” said Jones. “But that does not alter the fact of what you have achieved in the NFL. And I want to be the cracst that shakes your hand if you go into that (pro football) Hall of Fame.”
