Paige Bueckers was selected by the Dallas Wings With the first overall choice in the WNBA design from 2025 on Monday.
Bueckers was the consensus no. 1 prospect thourhout her senior season at UConn, when she helped the Huskies to a 12th National Championship in Leiden. It was her first with the school, after a five -year journey that saw her several knee injuries overcome, who huds her from her second -year season and during all her junior year.
But Bueckers fought back.
They on average 19.9 points and 4.6 assists this last season. She scored a career-high 40 points in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament, while her Huskies Domad Easy Domad Domad.
She will become a member of a happy Wings organization that jumped the Los Angeles Sparks, which had the highest opportunities to land the number 1 general choice for the lottery.
Bueckers will participate in a half of the defense with four-fold all-star Arike Ogunbawale, creating a duo that will be difficult to defend the wings, try to return to the post season. Bueckers must have the chance to have an immediate impact in Dallas, similar to that of 2024 First General Pick Caitlin Clark, who led the Indiana fever to the play -offs in her first season.

The WNBA season of 2025 starts on May 16, where the wings organize the Minnesota Lynx to open the season.
