US Embassy in Honduras issues security alert

The Americans were warned in Honduras about a possible mass shooting on Tuesday and May 16 in several places in the capital of Central American nations, Tegucigalpa.

The United States Embassy issued a security alert on Tuesday, saying that he had received information about a massive threat for Tuesday and next week.

“The United States Embassy in Honduras has received information from a threat of a massive shooting that will take place today, May 6, in Tegucigalpa,” says the alert. “The source also threatened such an event on May 16. The three objective locations mentioned are the Christian school Elliot Dover in Tegucigalpa, the Civic Center in Tegucigalpa and an unnamed shopping center in Tegucigalpa.”

The Elliot Dover Christian School is a bilingual school in the capital and the Civic Center is a government complex of offices.

The personnel of the United States embassy were warned to avoid locations. The embassy said the threat did not seem specifically to address US citizens.

Honduran authorities are investigating.

Currently, the State Department urges Americans to reconsider traveling to the country, citing high levels of crimes.

“Violent crime, such as homicide, armed hand and kidnapping, remains common,” says travel advice. “The violent activity of gangs, such as extortion, violent street crime, rape, narcotics and human trafficking, extend in general.
