Two people died and six were injured after an armed student assaulted Florida State UniversityThe Tallahassee campus on Thursday, the authorities confirmed.
The gunman believed to be a 20 -year -old FSU student Phoenix Ikner, was shot dead by the police on the campus, tasks in custody and also transported to the hospital, police said.

FSU Campus in Chaos: The Time Timeline
According to FSU, the police responded to the active call of the shooter from the area of the Campus Student Union around 12:01 pm
“The police are on stage or on the way,” said the alert. “Continue looking for refuge and wait for more instructions. Block and stay away from all doors and windows and prepare to take additional protection measures.”
According to the police, the gunman begged to shoot on the main campus around 11:50 AM, shot multiple people and killed two people, who were not students, police said.

2 dead victims, 6 other wounds
At a press conference on Thursday, the authorities said a total of nine victims: two people were killed, while six people and the gunman were hospitalized.
In its initial update, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare said they were in “close coordination” with the lifeguards and public security officials.
“Out of respect for the patient’s privacy and to guarantee precise information, we will provide updates as soon as they are available,” said TMH.
In a later update, TMH told CBS News Miami that they had received six patients, one in critical condition and the others listed in serious condition. The hospital said that all patients were in fair conditions from 4:30 pm
Revell confirmed that the gunman was also sent to the hospital to receive treatment of his wounds.
The suspect was a son of a deputy
Not only Ikner, the Sedped gunman and a current student at FSU, but is also the son of a deputy of the Sheriff of Leon County, the authorities confirmed.
According to the Sheriff of Leon County, Walt McNeil, the 20 -year -old man is the son of one of his deputies, saying that his mother has been with force for 18 years and was involved in the programs of the Seriff’s office. The shooter also used his mother’s old service weapon, now a personal gun, which was found on the scene.

Ava Arenado, a FSU student who was in class when the university alert came out, described a terrifying scene.
“One of my classmates got an alert on his phone and announced it to the rest of the class,” He told CBS News Miami. “My teacher began to sweep the door … and then another student said he would prefer to go home, so we all ran to our cars.”
FSU Blake Leonard student told CBS News Miami Heear heard a total of approximately 30 shots. Leonard said he was about 400 feet from the student union when he heard the fire and began to run.
“I heard that about 12 shots were shot. In my head, I thought it was construction at first, until I looked behind me and I saw people running from the union to my direction, and then I heard another 12 or 15 shots, so I took off.”
