Alex Murdaugh alleged associate pleads guilty to various charges

A former banker and an alleged accomplice of a dishonored legal row, Alex Murdah, agreed to a statement of guilt to help with some of his financial crimes.

The judicial records obtained by WCIV show that Russell Laffitte declared himself guilty of several federal fraud charges last week and will spend five years in prison.

The records show that Laffitte also agreed to pay $ 3,55,884.80 in criminal restitution. In addition, the bank’s former CEO will not be able to work in any bank or credit cooperative insured by the Federal Government without its prior consent.

A judge ordered Murdough and Fleming to pay millions to an insurance company in January 2025 after they conspired to steal around $ 4 million in insurance funds from the family of their home after their death.
