Low -cost hotels and palm trees that were balanced for a long time have attracted travelers to Southeast Asia, but Singapore is doubling into a different strategy, focusing on increasing tourist receipts instead of traveler arrivals.

The officials described on Friday a plan to increase tourism revenues in the city-state from a record rupture of $ 29.8 million in 2024 to $ 47 million- $ 50 million in the next 15 years.

Singapore’s “Tourism 2040” Strategy focuses on the increase in the demand of different groups: business and scenes, Grace Fu, the Minister of Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore, at the country’s tourism industry conference 2025.

The authorities aim to triple the tourist income of the so -called “mice” travelers, or those who travel to attend meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions, FU said.

“On average, a mice visitor passes twice than an leisure visitor, which makes it an exceptionally valuable segment for Singapore,” he said. “The global mice sector [is] It is expected to be doubled in value during the next decade. “

The country is also looking to develop a new mice center in the center of Singapore, said Fu.

Benefits of Goyond tourism receipts from the mice industry, said the CEO of the Tourism Board of Singapore, Melissa Ow, in the event.

They “will further deepen our connection with the priority industries, allow us to grow our economic hands turning influential actors and leading thoughts in Singapore, thus amplifying our status as the best mice city in the world,” he said.

OW announced that Singapore had secured its largest mice event so far, Herbalife Exvaganza 2026, which is expected to attract 25,000 visitors.

The stop travelers are also expected to generate more tourist income, especially after the opening of Terminal 5 of the Changi Airport, which is scheduled for the mid -2030s.

A new terminal opening in the mid -2030s is scheduled to increase stop trips at the Singapore Changi airport. The airport was called “World’s Best Airport” by Skytrax in 2025, its 13th time with this title.

World class attractions and cruises

Even so, leisure travelers will remain important for the city-state, OW said.

To attract them, Singapore will continue to focus on providing “world class attractions,” he said, a strategy that the country has used to compete with cheaper tourism raffles in the region.

The new attractions are in process, including the Singapore Oceanario scheduled to open at the end of this year, followed by the Porsche Experience Center and a new Science Center in 2027, OW said.

Singapore also aims to strengthen its position in the growing Cruise industry in Asia, he said.

He referred to the high profile launch of “Disney Adventure” by Disney Cruise Line, which will begin operating in Singapore in December and the introduction of Luminara de Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collections, a luxury superyte to start navigating from Singapore.

Grace Fu, Minister of Sustainability and Environment of Singapore, said Singapore is expanding the Marina Bay Cruise Center to help establish Singapore as the first place for cruises in Asia. “This investment of $ 40 million will increase the terminal capacity of 7000 to 12,000 passengers, which reinforces the state of Singapore as a leading cruise center in the region.”

Beyond cruise ships, the island is also well positioned to capture an increase in well -being, said OW, citing its “unique value proposal as a city in nature.”

She said that the Tourist Board of Singapore identified longevity trips and “well -being hotels” as ways to take visitors and repeat visits.

Entertainment ambitions

The Singapore Tourism Board will intensify the efforts to draw more world-class sports, lifestyle and musical events, said OW, citing Lady Gaga’s next concerts, while Elton John and rapper K-Pop G-Dragon will act on Perfix.

OW said the new places will open over the next few years, including a new theater in Gardens By the Bay and a sand in Marina Bay Sands, the largest hotel on the island.

For young basketball fans, Singapore will be the host of an invitational for young people of the 18 -year -old invitational and less for exclusive and league training sessions, said Fu.

Singapore welcomed 16.5 million international arrivals in 2024, well below the 19.1 million that arrived in 2019, according to the Singapore Tourism Board.

OW said that the Board is identifying new tourist markets, such as Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan, to increase and diversify visitors to Singapore.
