The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, said on Wednesday that his state will file a lawsuit that will challenge the authority of President Trump to impose hunger rates that have triggered a global commercial war.

The demand will argue that the use of Mr. Trump of the Law on International Emergency Powers to impose Duty In Mexico, Canada and China or a 10% tariff above all imports is illegal. The law allows a president to freeze and block transactions in response to foreign threats.

The lawsuit, which will be presented in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, will argue that promulgating such tariffs requires the approval of the Congress, said Newsom’s office in a press release.

“No other state will be more affected by the impacts of this,” said Newsom at a press conference on Wednesday along with California Rob Bronta attorney in the Central Valley.

“Already, the sellers have warned us that the costs of Trump’s tariffs on the state of California pass,” Bonta said.

Bonta and Newsom pointed out that the lawsuit will be 14 in less than 14 weeks that California has filed against the Trump administration.

“We are asking the court to stop the president,” said Bonta.

Mr. Trump has Offered many justifications to increase ratesincluded that they are designed to stimulate manufacturing and stop the flow of illicit fentanyl to the country. The California movement follows the tariff plans that change rapidly by the Trump administration. The government with “reciprocal” imposed letters Boxes of countries Last week, before Pausing most of those rates For 90 days, but Mr. Trump left a 10% tariff on most of the imported assets, and rose taxes on imports from China to a Total 145%.

Newsom said that tariffs, in effect, have resulted in inflated costs and billions of dollars in damages in California, which has the largest economy between states and is a massive exhibition of goods.

“No state is ready to lose more than the state of California,” said Newsom.

California’s demand makes the first state of the United States to sue the Trump administration on tariffs. The State will ask the Court to immediately block tariffs.

The announcement occurs days after Newsom asked countries to exempt California exports from retaliation rates. Offers have not yet been announced.
