The Chinese leader arrives in Vietnam on Monday in the context of commercial tensions between the United States and China.

The Chinese president, Xi Jinping, warned that Trade Wars “does not produce winners” while preparing to start a tour of Southeast Asia in the context of high commercial tensions between China and the United States.

When writing in the newspaper Nhan Dan de Vietnam before his visit to the country on Monday, XI said that countries should work to advance in a “comprehensive and inclusive global economic globalization.”

“Commercial wars and rates wars do not produce winners, and protectionism does not sacrifice solutions,” Xi said.

“It is necessary to resolutely protect the multilateral trade system, maintain the stability of global production and supply chains, and maintain an open and cooperative international environment.”

In a moment of increasing unilaterism and protectionism, China’s economy has remained a “key driver of the world economy,” Xi said.

“China will persist in a high -level opening, creating more opportunities for the world and will contribute to the shared development of countries through their own high quality development,” said the Chinese leader.

XI arrives in Vietnam on Monday as part of a five -day tour that will also see him visit Malaysia and Cambodia.

The trip occurs when Beijing is trying to portray as a reliable business partner for the region in the midst of uncertainty falls for the ads of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, about tariffs.

Trump has slapped a reference rate or 10 percent in country boxes, many of them in Asia, in addition to specific tariffs or 25 percent in vehicles, steel and aluminum.

The president of the United States has said that it will introduce new tariffs on semiconductors this week, while “reciprocal” steep tariffs of US commercial partners are in pause until July after their announcement of a 90 -day postponement last week.

Trump’s pause did not include China, whose exports have slapped with a 145 percent tariff.

China is the largest commercial partner of the Southeast Asian Nations Association (ASEAN), as well as the main commercial partner of Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia individually.

Vietnam is the largest buyer of Chinese products in the region, with China imports that increase more than 30 percent to $ 144 billion in 2024, according to the General Department of the Customs of Vietnam.

After Vietnam, XI plans to visit Malasia from Tuesday to Thursday, followed by a visit to Cambodia.
