The rapid coupling deadline for real IDs has many Americans who rush to obtain the new important identification, even when travel problems can be ahead.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) issued a press release that reminded Americans the deadline of May 7 while warning of delays.
“Passengers who present an identification issued by the State that do not comply with real identification and have no acceptable alternative (for example, passport) can expect to face delays, additional detection and the possibility of not the allowed bee allowed in the security control point.”

Air travelers at national airports must present a real identification to fly.
The TSA spokeswoman Lorie Dankers told Fox News Digital that the agency estimates that “81% of the public is ready for the real identification application.”

“That potentially leaves 19% that is not prepared,” Dankers said.

When asked if the real ID implementation will affect travel times, Dankers said: “If you make the calculations, the reasonable answer would be to get early.”

“The duration of delay travelers will be determined by the number of other travelers who do not have a credential for real identification composition or other form of identification accepted by TSA,” added the spokesman.

Gary Leff, an expert in the Texas -based travel industry and author of the blog “View From The Wing”, told Fox News Digital that he does not expect “significant delays”, but will affect travel times.

Leff says: “If there are additional identity verifications to pass, just calling another member of the TSA staff to handle that takes time.”
“Take only 10 additional seconds per passenger without real id (or 10 seconds per passenger, while the document verifier verifies what type of identification is) and multiply it through thousands or passengers by control point per day in larger airports,” Leff said.

He continued, “that could become a significant bottleneck.”
