Two people died and six were injured after an active shooter opened fire against the campus of the Florida State University in Tallahassee on Thursday, police said at a press conference. The injured victims and the suspicious shooter were taken to a local hospital.
The alleged armed man has been identified as Phoenix Ikner, 20, a FSU student who is the son of a deputy of the Leon County Sheriff, said the Sheriff of the County of Leon, Walter McNeil, in the informative session.
The suspect was the introduction of the tasks after the police shot him, the authorities said, adding that he invoked his right not to speak with the police.
The researchers say that the suspect used his mother’s old service weapon, now owned by her as a personal gun, which was found in the scene. They said he was also armed with a shotgun.

Tallahassee police said around 3:15 pm et that the campus has been insured, although multiple application agencies remain at the site for investigation into and tangled. “The police have neutralized the threat,” FSU tweeted. The University said the union of students and several other buildings on the campus should be declared “since they are still considered an active crime scene.”
Police responded to an active shooter call from the student union area around 12:01 pm, FSU said. Later, the police said the shooter opened fire around 11:50 am, the school sent an alert warning those on the campus that “seek refuge and expect more instructions.” The university also warned students to block and stay away from all doors and windows.
The injured are Being treated In Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Hospital, a hospital spokesman confirmed CBS News Miami. The hospital said that all patients were in fair conditions from 4:30 pm

Ava Arenado, a FSU student who was in class when the university alert came out, described a terrifying scene.
“One of my classmates got an alert on his phone and announced it to the rest of the class,” He told CBS News Miami. “My teacher began to sweep the door … and then another student said he would prefer to go home, so we all ran to our cars.”
FSU Blake Leonard student told CBS News Miami Heear heard a total of approximately 30 shots. Leonard said he was about 400 feet from the student union when he heard the fire and began to run.
“I heard that about 12 shots were shot. In my head I thought it was construction at first, until I looked behind me and I saw people running from the union to my direction, and then I heard another 12 or 15 shots, so I started out of there.”

The governor of Florida, Ron Desantis, tweeted: “Our prayers are with our FSU family.”
The FBI and ATF said they had agents on the scene to help the local police.
The White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said President Trump has been sent by the lyrics of the shooting, and Trump comments on the letter about this Thursday afternoon.
“It’s a shame. It’s a horrible thing. Horrible things. Things like this take place. And we will have more to say about it later,” Trump said.
He asked later if he would take a look at weapons in the light of the shooting, The president said“Well, I’m going to look. I am a great lawyer of the second amendment.
The University said the classes and all the events were canceled until Friday, and the sporting events canceled until Sunday.
Thursday’s incident was Not the first time there was a shooting In school. Three people were shot at the University Library In 2014Before the gunman, a former student, was shot by the police.
Until now, in 2025, they have 80 massive leg shootings in the United States, including the incident more recently at Florida State University, according to the Archive of Armed Violence.
