A husband and a wife from Georgia were arrested almost a quarter of a century after a man was found dead in his truck in a Wendy parking lot, Georgia’s research office said Monday.

Travis Silvers was found dead in his vehicle in fast food parking in Adoursville, Georgia, on the morning of March 10, 2001, the office said in a press release. The local media reported at that time that he had found the dead leg with a gunshot wound in the head and without weapons in the vehicle. The Georgia Research Office did not confirm how Silvers died. An obitary letter said he was 51 years old at the time of his death.

The case has been under investigation for 24 years, said the Georgia Research Office.

Gary Fowler, 74, and Mary Fowler, 73, were arrested on Friday, April 11. The couple lives in Chatsworth, Georgia, about 34 miles from Adoursville.

Both notices have been accused of murder in relation to the death of Silvers. Both are in custody in the prison of the office of the Bartow County Sheriff. An amount of bond has not been established, according to the records of the online jail.

The Georgia Research Office did not say what led to the positions, or how they believed that the couple was involved in the death of Silvers. Silvers’ death is still “active and continuous,” the office said.

The Georgia Research Office refused to provide additional information when CBS News contacted.
