London – Google It is hosting for £ 5 billion ($ 6.6 billion) in possible damage to the United Kingdom about accusations that the United States technological giant abused its “almost total domain” in the online search market to increase prices.

A collective claim filed on Wednesday in the appeal of the United Kingdom competition states that Google abused its position to restrict competitors’ search engines and, in turn, reinforce its dominant position in the market and make ITELF the only online search advertising.

It is being brought by the Academic of Law of Competition or Brook on behalf of hundreds of thousands of organizations based in the United Kingdom that used Google search advertising services from January 1, 2011 until when the claim was filed. She is being represented by the law firm Geradin Partners.

“Today, the companies and organizations of the United Kingdom, large or small, have almost no choice but to use Google ads to announce their products and services,” Brook said in a statement on Tuesday. “Regulators around the world have described Google as a monopoly and ensure a place in Google’s main pages is essential for visibility.

“Google has been taking advantage of its domain in the general search and search advertising market to overload advertisers,” he added. “This class action is about holding Google for its insufficient practices and seeking compensation on behalf of the United Kingdom advertisers who have been overloaded.”

Google described the case “another speculative and opportunistic case” and said he plans “to argue against him strongly.”

“Consumers and advertisers use Google It Helge, not because there are no alternatives,” a Toed CNBC spokesman.

A 2020 market study of the Competition and Market Authority (CMA), the United Kingdom Competition Regulator, found that Google obtained 90% of all income in the search advertising market.

The demand states that Google has taken a series of steps to restrict competition in the search, including participation in offers with smartphone manufacturers to pre -install the search for Google and Chrome on Android devices and pay Apple billions to ensure that Google is the engine of predetermined motor engine Engine Engine Engine Engine Engine Engine Engine Engine Engine Engine.

He also alleges that Google guarantees that his Search Management Search 360 search ads offer better functionality and more characteristics with their own advertising products than those of competitors.

Big Tech Under Fire

It is the last legal challenge for the giant of American technology. The great American technology companies that range from Google to Meta have been beaten with a multisude to demands, regulatory research and fines on Conerns that surround their great power and influence.

In 2018, Google was 11 billion euros ($ 4.9 billion) by the European Union for abusing the domain of its Android mobile operating system by forcing smartphone manufacturers to pre -install Chrome and search in a package of its application store. Seven years later, Google is still appealing the antitrust penalty.

This week, an antimonopoly demand presented by the Federal Commission of Commerce against the official goal entered the courtroom in a milestone that could finally force the giant of social networks to sell their Instagram and WhatsApp platforms.

In January, the CMA of the United Kingdom raised Conerns on competition problems in the cloud computing market, recommendation of an investigation into Amazon and Microsoft According to a law of historical competence known as the Law of Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers.
