Deciphering the Dolphin Code.
Dolphins are one of the most intelligent animals on earth and have been revered for thousands of years for their intelligence, emotions and social interaction with humans.
Now Google is using artificial intelligence (AI) to try to understand how they communicate with each other, hoping that one day humans can chat to chat with finished friendly mammals.
Google has associated with researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Wild Dolphin (WDP) project, a non -profit organization based in Florida that has been studying and recording dolphins sounds for 40 years, to build the new model of the so -called Dolphingemma.

For decades, WDP has correlated sound types with behavioral contexts. For example, mothers and calves have used firm whistles to meet, while the “gut” gusts “often observed dolphins fighting fights, the researchers said, according to a Google blog about the project.
Click “Zumbes” often use courtship or chasing sharks.
Now, using the fixed data collected by WDP, Google has Dolphingemma Bucks, based on the open model of light weight of Google, known as Gemma.
Dolphingemma has been trained to analyze the fixed library of recordings to detect patterns, structures and “meanings” equally potential behind Dolphin’s communications or vocalizations.
Approximately time, Dolphingemma will try to organize the sounds of the dolphin into categories, almost like words, prayers or expressions in human language.

“By identifying recurring sound patterns, reliable groups and sequences, the model can help researchers discover hidden structures and potential meanings within the natural communication of Dolphins, a previously required task that requires immense human effort,” a Google publication.
“Possible, these patterns, augmented with synthetic sounds created by researchers to refer to objects with which dolphins like to touch, can establish a vocabulary shared with dolphins for interactive communication.”
Dolphingemma uses Google Pixel telephone technology, specifically audio recording technology used on pixel devices, to make clean and high quality solid recordings of dolphins vocalizations.
Pixel telephone technology can separate clicks and whistles from background noise dolphins such as waves, boat engines or underwater static. That clean audio is fundamental for AI models such as Dolphingemma, because disorderly and noisy data would confuse AI, researchers said.

Google says that it plans to launch Dolphingemma as an open model this summer, which allows researchers around the world to use and adapt it.
Allle is trained in stained dolphins from the Atlantic, the model could also help study other species such as bottlery or rotating dolphins with some fine adjustments, the researchers said.
“By providing tools such as Dolphingemma, we hope to provide researchers worldwide with the tools to extract their own acoustic data sets, accelerate the search for patterns and the collectively deep modification of the mammals of the intelligent thesis armed,” says the blog post.
