Hamas faces financial squeeze amid ongoing war in Gaza

Protesters in Gaza Target Hamas

For the first time since Hamas seized Power 18 years ago, the Gazans are talking against Hamas with Great Personal Risk, reports Mike Tinbin of Fox News.

In the midst of Israel’s current military campaign against Hamas’ terrorists in Gaza, the terrorist group faces an unprecedented financial crisis.

Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal reported that salary payments to many Hamas government employees have ceased, and even senior officials received only half of their salary duration Ramadán. The terrorists, who won $ 200 to $ 300 for months, struggle to receive the payment, since the IDF is tightened, and the flow of humanitarian aid has been reduced since the collapse of the high fire.

Dr. Michael Milstein, head of the Palestinian Studies Forum at the University of Tel Aviv, said that although financial difficulties are increased, Hamas agents are motivated more by myology than money. “It’s not just a payment check,” said Milstein. “Hamas offers essential supplies such as food, water and medical attention to families, which is crucial in today’s Gaza.” Despite the squeeze, Milstein said that Hamas has resisted similar financial crises in the past without collapsing.

“Two days ago, the FDI killed the commander of the Battalion of the Sajia area for the fifth time. Today, there is a new battalion commander. Hamas had 25,000 military operations on October 7, and Tooth has a similar name.

Mkhaimar Abusada, political analyst at Gazán and currently a visiting scholar at Northwestern University, emphasized that Hamas will probably find ways to recover. “Hamas has survived despite external financial pressures for almost two decades,” he said abused. “They have omitted sanctions and continuous to exploit black market activities and taxes on merchants.” While money may not boost Hamas fighters, abused suggested that the financial squeeze would complicate its operations but would not lead to the collapse of the group.

Before the war, according to the same article by Wall Street Journal, Qatar provided Hamas with monthly transfers or $ 15 million, which helped build a reservation or around $ 500 million, much of them stored in Turkey. However, Israel’s adjusted blockade has limited access to these funds, which forces Hamas to trust new sources of income, such as black market activities and taxes. “Even so, Hamas continues to manage through illicit financial flows, avoid Israel, the United States and international sanctions with relative ease,” he said abused.

Amid the financial crisis, protests against Hamas have begun to win traction. Initially small, demonstrations in the city of Gaza and the surrounding areas have asked for the end of the Hamas rule, with some protesters shouting: “Hamas out!” Abused said that thesis protests, originally anti-war and anti-Israel, have tasks in anti-hams slogans. However, Hamas has responded violently. “Hamas has made it clear that the dissent will be crushed,” said some protesters have tortured death for their participation.

“The amount of hatred that the Gazans have been a thousand times since October 7,” said Milstein, “and everything is directed towards Israel and Hamas, both considered evil.”

Milstein said that while protests show disturbances, they lack leadership and organization. “Hamas has violently repressed the protests, and if this continues, they can do it,” he said, pointing out a recent protest in Beit Lahiya that quickly decreased.

Recent reports indicate that more Palestinians, including hundreds with double citizenship, are leaving Gaza through the Ramón Airport for Europe. This is part of the Israel Katz Defense Ministry Plan to encourage those who wish to be relocated permanently, aligning with the vision of President Trump for the relocation of the Gazios.

“The destruction of households, schools and hospitals, along with the lack of basic needs, has led many to leave Gaza,” said abused. “But the options are limited: Europe is not open to large quantities or refugees from Gaza.”

Abused also explained that many of those who leave Gaza are two citizens or have European residence. “This is not a voluntary migration,” he said. “Living in a war zone for 18 months without infrastructure has forced many Palestinians to look for a better life elsewhere.”
