ICE, ATF capture fugitive wanted for a 2020 murder in the Caribbean

A fugitive sought in relation to a murder has been captured by immigration and customs compliance agents (ICE) of the United States (ICE), after escaping custody twice in the Caribbean.

On April 4, Orville Andrew Pernell, a 32 -year -old Jamaican citizen, was arrested for the National Ice Security and the Office of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Special Agents in Savannah, Georgia, after the investigation.

ICE officials said Pernell is accused of committing a “brutal murder” in Santa Lucía in 2020 and had been a fugitive for several years.

“After a long career of Justice, he has finally been in custody again and faces the consequences,” HSI Atlanta wrote in an X post, along with the image of Pernell.

Pernell escaped from custody in Santa Lucía his judgment for murder and fled to Jamaica, authorities said. In addition, the authorities said Pernell was arrested in Jamaica in 2021 and also escaped from custody there.

The border patrol agents of the United States met Pernell on December 7, 2022, near San Ysidro, California, after trying to enter the United States using a false identity, authorities said. He was put on probation to the country and gave a warning to appear.

Pernell was arrested by Clayton County Sheriff in Clayton County, Georgia, for possession of a stolen motorcycle and trying to evade the trial in July 2023.

Police also found a 9 mm stolen gun in Pernell’s possession of the trial.

Pernell was located by agents of multiple agencies and arrested in the Savannah area, where it was tasks in capitody without incident.

The authorities said that Pernell faces charges of being an alien in possession of a weapon, and will be tried for murder after being extradited back to Santa Lucía.

“This operation highlights our wave work to dismantle criminal networks and bring violent people to justice. We are grateful for our local, state and international law members who helped us to ensure this trial.”
