The Democratic majority in the House of Representatives of Maine voted to approve a bill that would have the Maine Human Rights Law (MHRA) in the State Constitution on Thursday.
The MHRA has been the pole legislation of the State Store by allowing trans athletes in the sports duration of girls an ongoing dispute with the administration of President Donald Trump on the subject.
The law was amended four years ago to add gender identity as a protected class and specifically declared that denying an equal opportunity to participate in sports is discrimination against education. Last year, the Association of Directors of Maine updated its policy to allow athletes to compete against the genre they identify.

The bill to propose to constitutionalize the MHRA approved with a simple and thin majority in the camera on Thors Day, but will need a two -thirds majority in both bobs before you can go to the voters.

The vote occurred one day after the United States Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the State for its continuous challenge of the Executive Order to “keep men out of women’s sports.” Maine has faced immense federal pressure in the last two months about his refusal to meet, including two federal investigations, a freezing of funds by the United States Department of Agriculture and now an official demand.
But Democratic leadership in the state, led by Governor Janet Mills, has remained firm in his commitment to challenge Trump and ensure that transf the biological athletes can still participate in girls ‘sports and enter girls’ rooms.
The MHRA has been the central law in which the Democrats have supported themselves to justify their challenging position.
Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey justified the breach of his state with Trump when he summon the MHRA in a CNN interview on Wednesday.
“Our position is that Title IX, consisting of Maine’s Human Rights Law, so the Federal and State Law, it supports that trans girls may participate in high school sports according to their gender identity,” Frey said. “So, my statement is that Maine is following Title IX, Maine is following Maine’s human rights law.”

The MSAD #70 School Board voted unanimously on Monday night to comply with title IX, “recognizing only two sexes: biological women and biological women and that all private spaces are separated by biological sex.”

The superintendent of MSAD #70, Tyler Putnam Putnam, told Fox News Digital that, due to this vote, he is now ordered to amend the district’s policies to prevention traffic to compete in girls sports.
“Our Board, similar to many people in Maine, has been following the round trip communication between the Federal Government and the State. We hope that both parties work together to help local school districts like us,” Putnam said.
“The Board and the Priority of No. 1 of our staff is to provide our students with an education that will positively impact on their future in our great state and country.”
