MLB News: Member of Nationals ground crew has close call with rain tarp

A member of the Washington Nationals Grounds team was not as fast as it needed to be the rain delay date on Saturday in the National Park.

The rain begged the fall in the first entry of a game without goals between the nationals and the New York Mets.

The game began later than scheduled due to the inclement weather, but the conditions forced the game to stop shortly after it started.

But shortly after the site crew received instructions to get the canvas, a person avoided little what could have been a serious injury.

That member of the Grounds crew seemed to lose his balance, and his impulse carried him forward and on the canvas while throwing himself on the earth of the painting. The crew members continued momentarily displaying the canvas, which turned out that the waterproof cover was filmed on the man’s back.

The rain delay lasted less than an hour. Once the action resumed, the receiver of the METS, Francisco Alvarez, hit a two-run homer in the second entrance to give New York a 2-0 advantage. The Mets maintained that leadership from the eighth entry.

The game also scored the former Washington star Juan Sotos in the first series in the National Park as a member of the METS.

Soto spent the first 4½ seasons of his MLB career with the nationals. He was exchanged to the parents of San Diego in August 2022. Soto reached 41 homers in his career in his single season with the New York Yankees in 2024.

He changed to the districts of New York City in the low season, exchanging stripes for the Blue and Orange Mets. When Soto agreed to join the METS, he signed the most lucrative contract in the sports history of North America. It was reported that the 15 -year agreement was worth a record of $ 765 million.

The National entered Saturday’s contest in the fourth place in the National League of the East, while the Mets sat first in the division.
