The gardener of the Red Sox of Boston, Jarren Duran, has shown his speed on numerous occasions about his young MLB career, but nothing like Saturday night against the Cleveland Guardians.

He did something that no Red Sox player has done in 16 years. In fact, it was exactly the same date as Jacoby Ellsbury did to the New York Yankees.

Duran had a clean robbery against the Guardians pitcher, Doug Nikhazy, in Boston’s 7-3 victory in Doublehead’s second game on Saturday night in Cleveland.

The Speedster was dancing outside the third base, and Nikhazy, a left -handed, could not really see how far they were lasting on the line, because his back was towards the bag.

Duran took the fullest out of the base, but when he was basically halfway, he lowered his head and started running home. Nikhazy quickly lifted his leg and fired a launch, but the Bo Noylor receptor could be the label before Duran’s right hand crossed the Home plate.

“(The third base coach, Kyle Hudson) Heard Heard Heard tell the referee who was working from the section, so I decided that he was going to the first launch,” Duran said when asked why he had stolen home. “It was only to maintain the offensive and cause a small chaos. I knew I had it.”

The manager of the Red Sox, Alex Cora, added: “Under the new rules, he is the perfect player. We saw a window there and touched the advantage of the situation.”

One of the new rules that CORA refers here is that the receiver is not allowed to block the plate with his body, which allowed to durable to the head at home.

It was the first time Duran tried to do this. Only last season, he tried twice, once against the Rays of Tampa Bay on May 21, and the other against the Chicago White Sox on June 7.

He scored in both attempts, but they were also stealing double, which means that another red sock player was sliding second, which allowed him to return home.

This, however, was a straight robbery house, and Rafael Devers, who was in the batting box at that time, jumped up and down when the arbiter of the plate called Duran safe.

“It was really a great play and a great sequence of events there,” said launcher Walker Buehler. “He is one of the most exciting baseball players. After seeing it from afar, it is fun to see him closely this season.”

The only manager of the Guardians, Stephen Vogt, had to bow his cap to Duran, who said he had “a baseball game with aviano” after realizing that his third base, José Ramírez, was anywhere near the base of the Avirs to keep Duran nearby.

Nikhazy could have left the rubber and shoot the ball home instead of going through its usual delivery from the section, something that laments in retrospect.

“I had the tasks a great leap, and took off immediately,” Nikhazy said. “At the time, I chose to make the field instead of moving away. Ultimately, when I saw it, I should have lowered.”

Duran, the All-Star for the first time of 25 years last season, is enjoying a solid start in its 2025 campaign, since it leads the league with nine stolen bases and three triples. It is reducing .256/.316/.388 with an OPS of .704 in 28 games so far.
