Paris – The United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said on Friday that the United States can “move on” to try to ensure a Russia-Ukraine Peace treatment if there is no progress in the next few days. Months of White House efforts could not end the fighting, despite the repeated promises of President Trump before assuming the position that would be his skills as a negotiator to end the war immediately.

Rubio spoke in Paris after historical conversations between US, Ukrainian and European officials produced contours for steps towards peace and seemed to make some expected progress. A new meeting is expected next week in London, and Rubio suggested that it could be decisive to determine if the Trump administration continues its participation.

“Now we are reaching a point where we need to decide the target, this is simply possible or not,” Rubio told journalists when he left. “Because it is not, so I think we will move on.”

“It’s not our war,” said Rubio. “We have other priorities to focus.” He said that the US administration wants to decide “in a matter of days.”

His comments contrasted with the position of the Biden Administration, turning that the then Secretary of State Antony Shine Shine warned Not long after the war began that the autocratic president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, was determined to “reconstitute the Soviet empire. Apart from that, he would like to reaffirm a sphere of influence in neighboring countries that were once part of the Soviet block. And, below that, he would like to make sure that this whole country of some countries is neutral.”

The Ukrainian president, Volodyymyr Zenskyy, also has warnedeven in Multiple interviews with CBS NewsThat Putin intends to expand the borders of Russia through force and break the safety ties forged between the western democracies duration of World War II, or that the NATO alliance led by the United States has the most tangible.

“For him, we are a satellite or a Russian federation. At this time, it is we, then Kazakhstan, then the Baltic states, then Poland, then Germany. At least half or Germany,” Zenskyy told CBS News “Charlie d’E gout an annual.” This aggression and Putin’s army can come to Europe, and then to the citizens of the United States, the United States soldiers have the United States. Members “.

Zelenskyy called Russia’s invasion a war “against democracy, against values, against everyone,” even recognizing that some in the West could be tired of listening to that message, “but only those are tired who are not at war, who do not know what war is and that their children have never lost.”

“If we don’t stay firm, it will advance more,” Zenskyy reiterated in an interview with 60 minutes just this month. “It is not just inactive speculation; the threat is real. Putin’s ultimate goal is to revive the Russian empire and currently claim territories under NATO protection. Taking all this into account, I think it could increase to World War.”

Trump says “We have a mineral agreement” with Ukraine

Rubio’s comments on Friday arrived time after the United States and Ukraine apparently approached a long variety agreement to give us access to Fixed Mineral Resources of Ukrainewhich has been intertwined with the impulse of peace of President Trump.

“We have a mineral agreement,” Trump said Thursday, and Ukraine Minister of Economy said Friday that the two countries had signed a memorandum of intention before a possible more complete agreement later.

The agreement is expected that the Minister of Economy Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko, signed with the United States Treasury Secretary, Scott Besent, allane the way for significant investments, modernization of long -term infrastructure and cooperation.

The work towards the mineral agreement had stagnated in February after a Contentious Oval Office Meeting Between Mr. Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zenskyy. Negotiations have resumed since then.

Rubio about dialogue with Russia and Europe

Despite the apparent American impatience with the peace efforts, Rubio called the Constructive Paris conversations. “No one rejected anything, nobody got up from the table or left.”

Rubio did not highlight Russia or Ukraine as blocking peace efforts. He said he informed Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, about the contours that arose when they spoke after the Paris conversations, but would not say how Lavrov reacted.

When asked about Rubio’s comments on Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that “quite complex” negotiations were ongoing between Russia and the United States that did not give details, but there were no direct conversations between Mr. Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin were scheduled in the coming days.

“Russia strives to resolve this conflict, ensuring its own interests and is open to dialogue. We continue doing this,” he said.

In his reading about the call with Rubio, the Kremlin said that Lavrov had confirmed the “preparation of Moscow to continue working together with American colleagues to reliably eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis.”

Putin and his deputies have constantly affirmed that these root causes are the actions of Zenskyy and the expansion east of NATO, with a flagness of narratives that Mr. Trump himself has sometimes defended About the large -scale invasion that Putin was launched on February 24, 2022.

After the week of tension with European allies, Rubio told reporters in Paris that European negotiators proved to be useful. “The United Kingdom, France and Germany can help us move the ball on this.”

During a Friday meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome, vice president JD Vance also talked about the ongoing negotiations with Ukraine and Russia, saying that he would like to “prejugate them, but we feel optimistic Condefuty”

European Conerns are growingHowever, on the disposition of Mr. Trump to approach Russia. These conversations were the first time since the inauguration with which the main US, Ukrainian and European officials to discuss the end of the war, which has raised the greatest security challenge for Europe since World War II.

The meetings addressed the hypothetical security guarantees for Ukraine in the future, but Rubio would not discuss any possible role of the United States in that. A child of the United States support to Ukraine is seen as crucial to ensure that Russia would not attack if a peace agreement is reached.

Rubio and presidential envoy Steve Witkoff have helped lead the efforts to seek peace, and Witkoff has done it three times with Putin, Rubio said. Several rounds of negotiations in Saudi Arabia have been held.

Moscow has effectively refused to accept a high integral fire that Trump has pressed and Ukraine has supported. Russia has stopped it in the mobilization efforts of Ukraine and western weapons supplies, which are demands rejected by Ukraine.
