This is where things are on Monday, April 14:

Struggle

  • The Ukraine Air Force said that Russian missiles and guided bombs have once again hit the city of Sumy in the northeast of Ukraine. The local authorities said the attack hit the outskirts of the city and reported that he did not report coincidences, a day after a missile strike in the city killed 35 people.
  • Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zenskyy, speaking in a night video direction, said that Sunday’s attack in Sumy had increased to 35 dead and 119 injured. Forty people remain in the hospital, with 11 in serious condition.

  • Three people have been killed in an attack of Ukrainian unmanned planes against the Kursk region of Russia, according to the regional governor, Alexander Khinshtein.
  • The Ukrainian authorities held a press conference on Monday, in which Chinese prisoners of war traveled to fight in Ukraine as mercenaries in the name of Russia seemed to warn others who did not follow their steps.

Military help

  • The president of the United States, Donald Trump, criticized Zenskyy and implied that kyiv had begun the war against Russia, saying that the Ukrainian leader “always sought to buy” American missiles. “You don’t start a war against someone 20 times your size and I hope people give you some missiles,” Trump said.
  • Trump also promised to deliver “some very good proposals” to resolve the Russian war in Ukraine “very soon.”
  • Trump administration officials have disagree on how to address the conflict, the Reuters news agency reported, with some Ukraine suggestions should give territory to Russia and others pressing to obtain more support from Ukraine.
  • Democrats in the United States representatives introduced Legilation to reinforce Ukraine defenders. The bill, which has not made public, would provide safety and reconstruction funds and impose more sanctions to Russia.
  • The Kremlin has criticized a German announcement that it will send Taurus long -range missiles to Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the incoming position of the German chancellor “inevitably leads to a greater escalation of the situation around Ukraine.”
  • The United Kingdom has transferred $ 990 million to Ukraine to help you buy air defenses and artillery as part of a broader international loan program of $ 50 billion backed by frozen Russian assets. Payment is the second of the three installments, with the first transferred on March 6 and the last delivery that will be paid next year.
  • NATO members are discussing an expenditure objective for civil defense and more support for Ukraine, according to Swedish prime minister Ulf Kristerson. Speaking to journalists in Stockholm, Kristerson said that a meeting of NATO leaders in June can agree on a defense expense above 3 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), with a second objective for other expenses in relation to security and defense.

Policy and diplomacy

  • Zenskyy said that almost 50 countries had sent messages of support to Ukraine after Russia’s attack against Sumy, which hit a church where a Christian congregation celebrated Ramos Sunday, on Sunday before Easter.
  • The Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, said that Moscow’s attacks against Sumy and the city of Kryvyi Rih showed that Russian President Vladimir Putin was looking for a continuation of the war, not the end. The Kremlin says that Russia is willing to seek a landing peace that addresses what calls the fundamental causes of the conflict.
  • The European Commission will reveal a detailed strategy to eliminate the elimination of Russian oil and gas imports in May after delaying the plan twice. In an announcement on Monday, the commission said it would publish the road map on May 6. The European Union has introduced sanctions to Russian oil but continues to import Russian gas.
  • A German court will review the seizure of a Russian oil tanker “Shadow fleet” that he allegedly used to avoid oil sanctions, said Germany finance minister. The Panama Flag ship, Eventin, was seized after it was found out of control of the German coast in January.
  • The new energy strategy of Russia foresees the stable production of crude oil and significant growth in gas extraction until 2050, despite Western sanctions. The production of fossil fuels of Russia has been used to finance its invasion of Ukraine.
  • Russia has extended a suspension in the publication of oil and gas statistics, which means that the country will not provide an update until April 1, 2026. Russia has suspended or delayed the key publication statistics since its great stepped in February 202.
  • A Russian court ruled on Monday that a child beneficial organization created by a prominent critic of Kremlin should close. Yevgeny Roizman, a former legislator and former mayor of Yekaterinburg, who was a friend of the late opposition leader Alexey Navalny, described the decision as “personal revenge” after the invasion of Ukraine criticized Russia to Ukraine but made the country.
