Sea lion affected by toxins attacks surfers in California

“These Domoic acid events are becoming larger, worse and more frequent,” said John Warner, CEO of the Marine Mammal Care Center, to the station. “That is horrible. How long can all these species take this type of abuse and continue with us? That is the question, and I don’t know the answer to that.”

In addition to the domestic acid, the flowering of toxic algae also sick marine life with saxitoxin, which causes paralytic seafood poisoning.

Last summer, a couple or marine lions were Caht in video that carried the Beachleers further south on the beach La Jolla of San Diego County. That incident came with the mammal reproduction season.
