Strong earthquake rattles Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul – An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude or 6.2 shook Istanbul on Wednesday, said the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency of Türkiye. There were no reports of serious damage or important injuries, but many people left the buildings in Istanbul with fear, looking for information about their phones and calling loved ones.

The boxes of people were injured while trying to flee from panic buildings, some jumping from Windows, said the governor of Istanbul, but none of them critically.

The earthquake had a shallow depth of approximately 6 miles, according to the United States geological service. His epicenter was about 25 miles southwest of Istanbul in Marmara’s sea.

The earthquake was felt in several neighboring provinces and in the city of Izmir, about 340 miles south of Istanbul. The earthquake hit at 12:49 pm turning a holiday when many children were out of school and celebrating in the streets, forcing the authorities to Cancel the events.

“At 3:12 pm, 51 replicas, the largest or that was 5.9 of magnitude, had registered,” Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya wrote on social networks.

Yerlikaya said previously that the authorities had not received reports from collapsed buildings. He told Haberturk Television, Howver, he had damage of damage to buildings.

Many residents went to parks, school courtyards and other open areas to avoid being close to buildings in case of collapse or subsequent replicas. Some people launched tents in the parks.

“Thank God, there seems to be no problems for now,” said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in an event that marks the National Sovereigtytty and Children’s Day. “May God protect our country and our people from all children from calamities, disasters, accidents and problems.”

Mayor Mehmet Ergun Turan of the Historical District of Fatih of Istanbul, which houses the famous blue mosque and Hagia Sophia, told local media that there was no damage or collapse informed.

Kemal Cebi, the mayor of the district of Kucukcekmece in western Istanbul, told the local station NTV that “they were not yet negative developments,” but James traffic reported and said that many buildings were enhanceable in the area.
