Sudan paramilitary declares rival government two years into civil war | Sudan war News

The paramilitary rapid support forces declare the rival authority in areas under their control, since the United States expresses alarm about their alleged targeting of civilians in Darfur.

The quick paramilitary support forces of Sudan (RSF) have announced the formation of a rival government, two years since the country descended to a Brut war that has left tens of thousands of dead and has triggered what Theanitis calls the worlds.

The RSF, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemedti, declared on Tuesday the establishment of the “Peace and Unity Government” in areas under its control. The measure directly challenges the administration led by the Army headed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.

“On this anniversary, we proudly declare the establishment of the Peace and Unity Government, a wide coalition that reflects the true face of Suran,” Dagalo said in Telegram.

The RSF and its allies had already signed a letter in Nairobi in February, presenting their intention to form an alternative authority.

Dag Alo said that they had now supported a transition constitution, which he described as a “road map for a new suran.” The document proposes a presidential council of 15 members that represents all regions of the country.

Experts have warned for a long time that prolonged conflict runs the risk of permanently fracturing Saudan. Sharath Srinivasan, a specialist in Sudan at the University of Cambridge, told the AFP news agency that the entrenchment of the RSF in Darfur could result in a “de facto separation.”

Since the war broke out on April 15, 2023, almost 13 million people have been displaced, without a political solution in Sightt. The fight was after months of tension between the Army of Sudan and the RSF, once close allies that jointly directed the 2021 coup d’etat that derailed a transition led by civil.

US condemns RSF violence in Darfur

As the RSF seeks to consolidate control in western Sudan, paramilitaries and their allied militias face a renewed international scrutiny about their behavior in war.

The United States criticized the RSF on Tuesday for attacking civilians in the camps of Zamzam and Abu Shouk, home of hundreds of thousands of displaced people, in the northern region of Darfur in recent days.

The UN said that at least 300 civilians were killed in RSF attacks in the camps on Friday and Saturday.

“We are deeply alarmed by the reports that the RSF has deliberately attacked civilians and humanitarian actors,” said the United States Department of State Department, Tammy Bruce. He asked that all parties respect international humanitarian law and face responsibility for violations.

Donor Conference

With the deepening of the humanitarian crisis of Sudan, the United Kingdom organized a donor conference in London, where international partners promised to increase support.

The European Union promised more than $ 592 million, while the United Kingdom committed additional $ 158 million.

“We need patient diplomacy,” said the Interior Secretary of the United Kingdom, David Lammy. “We cannot give up an inevitable conflict. We cannot return here, within a year, having the same discussion.”

The Sudan military government criticized the meeting, noting that representatives of any of the face were not invited.

The co -chants of the conference issued a unified call for a high immediate fire and a transition to the civil government, emphasizing the importance of preventing the partition of Sudan and preventing external actors from interfering.
