International students whose visas have been revoked are demanding the Trump administration for an alleged violation of due process.
Associated Press reported that students argue that the Trump administration lacked justification when canceling the visas.
President Donald Trump has followed an offensive against immigration that initially focused on those of the United States illegally. However, several international students have been trapped in the sights when the Administration argues that its pro-Palestinian activism constitutes support for Hamas, a terrorist organization designated by the United States. Meanwhile, other international students have revoked their visas for past infractions, such as traffic violations, according to the AP.
Students in at least 30 states have revoked their visas, according to NBC News, which said the government is using a foreign policy statute since 1952 to justify cancellations.

One of the most prominent cases is that of Mahmoud Khalil, a student at Columbia University who participated in the anti-Israel activity in school. Last week, a judge ruled that the Government with the burden of the deporting test Khalil. The lawyers of the Department of National Security (DHS) said that Khalil was not present on their participation in certain organizations or their work with the United Nations relief and works.

The DHS lists several circumstances under what the Government can revoke a student visa, including the absence of the USA. For five months or more, expulsion, unauthorized employment and not register, among others.
International students have been allowed to maintain their legal residence status and continue their studies even after their visas are revoked, according to the AP. In those cases, the lack of a visa only affected its ability to travel inside and outside the US. According to the AP, losing the legal state of residence is what finally puts students at risk of being deported.

Trump administration officials have defended the revocation of student visas, stating that the Government reserves the right to cancel them.
“There is no right to a student visa. We can cancel a student visa under the law in the same way that we can deny a student visa under the law. And we will do it in the cases we consider appropriate,” said Secretary of State Marco Rubio to journalists on March 28.
