The leader of a 2023 coup d’etat, Brice Oligui Nguema, wins in an overwhelming victory in Gabon.
General Brice Oligui Nguema has just won Saturday’s elections in Gabon, and will lead the country for the next seven years.
Gabon is among the seven Western and Central Africa countries where the military have overcome power in recent years.
When the Army overthrew the president there in 2023, he finished 56 years of government for the Bongo dynasty.
The winner, Nguema, is the army general who directed that military acquisition.
Now he says that he will bring democratic changes and reforms.
But can you fulfill your promises?
