If it is a Friday for a Formula 1 Grand Prix, it’s time to talk about upgrades.
On Friday, when the FIA releases the “car presentation entries”, with a list of all new components that teams have installed for the first time this season. As you will see in an instant, various components that teams use this week are “circuit -specific” components, designed for the unique characteristics of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, one of the fastest street circus in the world.

McLaren
We start with McLaren, the team is currently leading the Builders’ Championship. While the MCL39 remains the Dominnt package on the grid, the team has two upgrades to Jeddah. Bree aerodynamic changes at the back of the MCL39, where the team installs both a reformed diffuser and a new rear brake channel wings. The team believes that before new components will translate into an “increase in aerodynamic efficient.”
For those who wonder, the diffuser is a component at the back of the car that is essentially the last part of the floor at the rear. It is the part indicated in the larger circle in the presentation of McLaren here:
Ferrari
Ferrari introduced new floor in the Bahrain Grand Prix last week, but they have serious tweaks to their rear and beam wings to adapt to the “peculiarities of the Jeddah circuit.” The team that you have reduced the size of the rear wing by installing a shorter chord at the top of the rear wing flap and by “loading” the top rear wing and part of the lower bundle wing. This means that the two wings are sloping to reduce resistance and hopefully to increase performance.
Red Bull
Red Bull has broken two new components on the Saudi -Arab Grand Prix, both to tackle private elements of the Jeddah Corniche circuit. Firstly, an enlarged output of the hood, which, according to the team, is due to the forecast -related ambient temperatures. According to Red Bull, the higher temperatures “require the use of a larger top body to reject the heat needed for cooling.”
Just like Ferrari, Red Bull is also an introduction to “Save agreement and Camber Lower of Beam Wing.” This is to determine Downforce and to reduce resistance.
Aston Martin
Aston Martin has a “circuit-specific” upgrade to the Saudi-Arab Grand Prix, aimed at reducing the drag. The team you have “[l]ESS aggressive rear wing flap “that is aimed at” less load and Henc to match the characteristics of this circuit. “
Hare
Haas also has a few “circuit -specific” upgrades, both aimed at reducing aerodynamic resistance and load. They have changed the corner on the rear wing assemblies, with the help of two “Carry-over rear wings” of the VF24, their challenger for the 2024 season. According to the team, Bush Thesh wings reduces the drag and loading levels, “achieves and unburden the profiles.”
The other new element is a changed front wing, which the team indicates, is required for the changed rear wing. The team that you have “relaxed front wing flap profile”, states that is needed “[i]N order to achieve a correct balance ”with the new rear wings.
Visa Cash App Racing Bulls
Again, the theme of “circuit -specific” upgrades is present in the entry of VCARB. The team that you have introduced, changes in the front, rear and jet wings, all focused on racing drag.
The team that you have reduced the chord length of the front wing flap – the distance from the front to the back of the front wing flap – which means that less load is generated by the front wing at a given flap corner, so that the car can be balanced for the rear wing levels of the loan on this circuit.
VCARB has also adjusted the rear and jet wings. With the rear wing, VCARB has raised the front edge and changed the angle, “making it a good option for this circit to achieve the optimum lap time.”
They have also reduced the agreement to the rear wing, which reduces the “load generated by the lower element of the blasting wing”.
According to VCARB, changes reduce drag and downforce.
Sauber
Stop me if you have heard this before, but Sauber has subcircuit-specific upgrades, aimed at Redug and Downforce. The team that you have a smaller flap for the front wing, low-through rear wing composition and new end-plate geometry for both the jet wing and the rear wing. All or changes are aimed at resisting resistance.
However, the team also has an upgrade to their floor, with changes to ‘central floor geometry’. Sauber states that this change “is aimed at improving the power characteristics around the rear floor, for efficient downforce wins.”
