There are many ways to explore the seven mountains surrounding the picturesque city of Bergen of the Unesco World Heritage on the west coast of Norway. The newest, however, could be a record breakdown.
A pedestrian and three kilometers (1.8 miles) tunnel and the pedestrian tunnel have flown through the Løvstakken Mountain base and its manufacturers say it is the most lung tunnel of the construction of their son.
FyllingsDalstunnellen, as it is known, was inaugurated on April 15 with a family day of sports activities, after four years of construction that was in February 2019. The mega project financed by the State cost about $ 29 million, or 300 million Kroner.
“The Norwegians are regular modest people,” Camilla Einarsen tells CNN, a spokeswoman for the railway company, Bybaan Utbygging, “but in this case we would say that the tunnel is 100% latest generation.”
Little less than 10 minutes are needed to cross the tunnel by bicycle and around 40 if they walk on foot. To break the monotony of the tunnel without window, there are a variety of art facilities, as well as different colors and lighting to help users place where they are on the trip and sacrifice a direction of direction.
At the central point there is a “alone” installation, where the sun will definitely never shine, which shows the time of day, which again helps guide visitors and also break the long line of vision. The tunnel is perfectly straight, separated from slight curvatures at the entrance and exit.
If you ask how cyclists and pedestrians can use the same space, there are two lanes in the tunnel: a 3.5 -meter wide bicycle lane and a 2.5 -meter wide lane for walkers and runners. “We have established a blue rubber floor through the tunnel, similar to a sports runway, explains Einarsen Heggernes.” This makes it more pleasant to use than one would simply walk on asphalt. ”
The new tunnel occurred as a product of the second tram line of Bergen Bybaan, which was inaugurated in November 2022. The tram line through the mountain required a parallel evacuation tunnel, so the developers decided to make the new multipurpose tunnel.
Bergen is the second largest city in Norway and the port city is linked to Oslo, the Norwegian capital, by the Bergensbagen railway line of 496 kilometers. This impressive railway trip crosses the largest high mountain plateau in Europe, the Hardangidda, and its snow -clad views were the backdrop of the battle scenes in the “Star Wars sequel” “The Empire Strikes Back”.
While the Phylling Valley tunnel is launching Itelf as the most pulmonary development cycle tunnel in the world, the reason for that warning is the Snoqualmie tunnel 3.6 kilometers long in Washington, just east of Seattle. This old train tunnel is now a corridor for cyclists, corridors and walkers and is part of the 250 miles to Cascades State Park Trail.
Six European cities arrived in the recent summary of 10 of the most friendly cities with the world’s bicycles. Copenhagen has 385 kilometers or bicycle lanes, after having introduced its first path in 1892. Strasbourg in France has around 6,000 bicycles available at the 24/7 self -service stations that tourists can use. And the Swiss capital of Bern has a stimulant trail downhill for riders who feel the need for speed. The best thing is that cyclists can get a funicular to the top and then go down, without a struggle up.
